SUMMARY:

Human Development Center (HDC) is hiring Registered Nurses to join our Residential Crisis Stabilization Center (RCS). HDC provides a safe environment for people to stabilize while experiencing a mental health crisis that may be an alternative to a hospital setting.  The RCS provides services to adults experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency. This includes serving persons with co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders. This program typically supports 12 people at any given time. These services are time-limited and generally range between 3 and 10 days. You will be working in a fast-paced setting with a newly designed therapeutic program.

The Registered Nurse is a fully integrated member of the team and guides the medication and medical treatment needs of all individuals served at the RCS facility.

DUTIES:

-  Complete initial Nursing Assessment on all residents.

-  Keep appropriate records and do necessary charting as required.

-  Verify medication administration records.

-  Administer all Medications.

-  Review all medication errors and narcotic off counts.

-  Educate residents about their medications.

-  Enter all physicians' and/or nurse practitioner orders within the EHR.

-  Treat medical problems requiring nursing judgments and coordinate appropriate follow-up.

-  Write referrals for medical visits/psychiatric visits.

-  Make medical appointments, provider calls and complete all medical orders.

-  Write and update medical/medication policies as needed.

-  Communicate resident medical needs/concerns to their respective medical/psychiatric providers.

-  Supervise all aspects of medication administration.

-  Train staff (unlicensed medication personnel) on medication procedures and provide training on the facility's nursing needs (i.e., blood pressure, pulse, etc.)

-  Provide in-services as needed.

-  Work with therapists and all other staff in supervising residents' transition in medication level changes.

-  Order all medications and supplies for nursing needs.

-  Work under the direct supervision of the Treatment Director.

-  Arrange for biohazard disposal, medication audits and lab tests.

-  Maintains familiarity and compliance with applicable Minnesota Statues or rules, including, but not limited to DHS variance that regulates Crisis facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

-  Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota.

-  Experience in inpatient, outpatient, or community psychiatric setting.
